After more than a decade together, Colombian singer Shakira has revealed her breakup from soccer partner Gerard Piqué.

Shakira, 45, has two children with Piqué, 35, who has played for FC Barcelona since 2008 and has made over 600 appearances for the team, according to Spanish media.

The cause for their breakup might be linked to an infidelity accusation filed against Pique.

“We regret to confirm that we are parting ways,” the pair wrote in a joint statement sent through her publicist.

“For the sake of our children’s safety, which is our first priority, we ask that you respect their privacy.” Thank you for your patience.”

They met in 2010 while Rihanna was filming the video for her World Cup song Waka Waka in South Africa for the competition.

They were together for 11 years and have two children, Milan, who is nine, and Sasha, who is seven.

“It all started while we were in South Africa and I wrote to her,” Piqué stated at the time, describing how their romance began.

Gary Neville recently questioned him about why he had never married the Hips Don’t Lie singer.

“No, I’m not married,” he remarked during an interview on The Overlap podcast. It’s the way she thinks.

“I enjoy where we’re at right now. We currently have two children, ages nine and seven. We get along well as a pair.”
