Olufemi Ajadi, a presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), announced his withdrawal from the race on Thursday, May 26, 2022, instead opting to work with Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.

Today, Ajadi announced his resignation in front of a large crowd of party supporters and other Nigerians at the Iwe Iroyin in Abeokuta.

He described the event as historic, saying it would mark a significant step forward in Nigeria’s emancipation from bad leadership.

He blamed widespread suffering in the country on bad leadership, claiming that the country was already blessed to the point where its citizens should not suffer.

“Nigeria is a country that God has blessed, but if you look around now, you’ll agree with me that things aren’t going well.

“Even though Nigeria has arable land and a variety of foods and crops, there is hunger in the land.”

“Insecurity exists in the country, despite an elected government and the presence of the police, army, navy, and air force.”

“When our children graduate from high school, there are no career opportunities. Is it any surprise that crime exists everywhere?

“The roads are in terrible shape, and there is no public water, electricity, or any of the other necessities of life.” We do, however, have a government.

“We have billions of naira in assets and cash.”

What is the missing connection, I wonder?

Selfless, sincere, and servant-based leadership, guided by the highest sense of equity and fairness, is the missing link, distinguished Nigerians. “That is what we have come to give as the NNPP,” he stated.

“Ladies and gentlemen, that is why I, OLUFEMI AJADI OGUNTOYINBO, after much thought and in the best interests of our great party and beloved country, today relinquish my presidential ambition to support Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s presidential candidacy; it is all in our party’s and country’s best interests.”

Senator Kwakwanso, as you know, is a wonderful Nigerian, a successful politician and administrator who would help to lift this country.

“I promise my unwavering commitment to serve our party and country first as a presidential running mate and then as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he continued.

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has previously been regarded as God-sent for the purpose of rescuing Nigeria by the party’s Ogun State chairman, Olaposi Oginni.

He also praised Ajadi’s credentials, stating that he had been promoting the party positively all along and was a firm believer in Nigerian unity.

He emphasized that Ajadi has visited with famous Nigerians on this topic, including Obas in the Southwest: Olu-Ibadan, Oni of Ife; Olufi of Gbongan; and the Are-OnaKakafo of Yorubaland, Alhaji Gani Adams, who he just met with.

“Ajadi has organized today’s event on how to bring the party ahead with the backing of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader, and other Southwest leaders,” he stated.

He went on to say that all of the members of the Southwest have met and reconciled with the unhappy folks in order to bring the party forward.

“We unanimously decided to keep the Southwest’s current status in Nigeria’s administration, which is the post of Vice President of the nation,” he stated, referring to a meeting attended by all Southwest party chairmen.
