Bobby Brown reminisces on his first date with Whitney Houston, describing it as “Love At First Sight.”

Whitney Houston has returned to the spotlight after a seven-year hiatus with a launch party for her new record. The soul singer sparkled in a black and white leopard print dress at the occasion, putting the tumultuous previous decade behind her.
The 45-year-old appeared to be back to her best after seeming haggard and damaged in recent years. Whitney’s new album, ‘I Look To You,’ was launched at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, London. A beaming Whitney was welcomed by a standing ovation from the audience, which included retail billionaire Sir Phillip Green, when she took the stage. Clive Davis, the music tycoon who found Whitney 25 years ago, was also in attendance. Some of the new album’s tracks have already been made available online, to mixed reviews.
On the first night of his A&E Biography special on May 30, Bobby Brown talked about the first time he met Whitney Houston. Although the majority of the documentary concentrated on Bobby’s childhood and early career, it concluded with a life-changing incident for the singer: the day he met Whitney Houston. In 1989, they initially met at the Soul Train Awards.
Bobby acknowledged, “I remember that night like it was yesterday.” “It was weird to be recognized as a single artist.” I also fell in love at that time. I was backstage at the Soul Train Awards when we first met, and Whitney walked over to me and bumped me. She kept knocking into me. ‘You know you keep bumping me,’ I remarked as I turned back, and she answered, ‘I know.’ It was love at first sight from then on out. “Something about her gaze made me melt on the inside.”
Bobby remembers asking Whitney if she would agree to go on a date with him, and she said yes. “We went out the next day,” he added. “We went shopping in Beverly Hills, had dinner at the Ivy, and then spent the rest of the evening relaxing.” It was always exceptional the way she looked at me, from the first day we met until the final day we parted.”
Bobby proposed to Whitney in 1991, and the couple married in July 1992. They have one child together, Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was born in 1993. Despite being madly in love, Bobby and Whitney’s drug problems and accusations of adultery finally tore them apart. In 2006, Whitney filed for divorce, and the divorce was completed in April 2007. Whitney died in February 2012, and Bobbi died in July 2015.
Part two of the Biography special will detail the ups and downs of Bobby and Whitney’s marriage, as well as Whitney’s death. The second installment will run on A&E on May 31 at 8:00 p.m.
