Britney Spears has announced that she is expecting a child.

Britney Spears is expecting her first child, the 40-year-old pop diva said on Instagram on Monday.

Spears stated in her blog post that she began gaining weight immediately after returning from a trip to Maui with her fiancé, Sam Asghari. “So I took a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh well… it turns out that I am having a baby,” she wrote.

The announcement of the pop star’s pregnancy comes only months after a judge terminated her 13-year conservatorship following a highly publicized legal struggle with her father, who was the subject of the announcement. The terms of the agreement meant that Spears had very little control over her life and the decisions she could make, including those affecting her professional and financial futures. When she discovered that the singer was suffering from mental health concerns, she placed her under her conservatorship in 2008.

In a bombshell testimony last June, she told a Los Angeles Superior Court judge that she wanted to have another baby, but she was forced to keep an IUD in place, in accordance with her conservatorship.

Spears is already a mom to two boys: Sean Preston Federline, 16, and Jayden James Federline, 15, from her previous marriage to Kevin Federline.

Spears wrote Monday that she will be spending less time going out to avoid paparazzi and noted with her previous pregnancies, she suffered from perinatal depression.

She finished her post on a positive note saying, “This time I will be doing yoga every day !!! Spreading lots of joy and love !!!”
