Just In: Atiku becomes the PDP’s presidential candidate | Metronew247

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been chosen as the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate for 2023.
It will be the 75-year-sixth old’s run for the top post in the country.
He was also the PDP’s candidate for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election, which he lost.
Atiku had to defeat Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki to secure the PDP’s 2023 ticket.
On Friday, the Informant247 stated that Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has resigned in support of Atiku.
Mr. Atiku was elected with 371 votes. Wike, his closest rival, received 237 votes. Saraki received a total of 70 votes.
The remaining qualified votes were split between Emmanuel (38), Mohammed (38), Anyim Pius Anyim (14), Mrs Tari Diana Oliver (1), and Sam Ohuabunwa (1).
