According to Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian socio-political activist, President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the constitutional authority to fire Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele.
According to social media rumors, the governor, who had expressed interest in running for president on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been fired.
As of publication time, the DAILY POST has been unable to confirm the rumor.
In response to the rumors, the Activist suggested that the president might have to go through the legislative process before firing the apex bank governor.

“As much as I want @GodwinIEmefiele to be fired for his ineptitude, failure, and politicization of his post, the President cannot SACK a CBN Governor!” she said.
